Protogenetic Metaverse Implementation by Chinese Post-2000s Startup Team
On an afternoon in April 2023, core members Wang Zhengyunqin, Zhang Hanyang, Li Zhuoyuan, and Chen Junyu of the SCU DAO team sat in a meeting room discussing the development of the metaverse industry with experts from the Chongqing Cloud Computing and Big Data Industry Association.
With the rapid development of technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and blockchain, the metaverse has become a highly regarded emerging industry. China, as one of the world's largest internet markets, possesses abundant market demand and technological foundations. Government policy support and capital enthusiasm provide strong guarantees for the development of the metaverse.
Seated on the right side of the meeting table, project leader and founder Wang Zhengyunqin spoke about the concept of the Protogenetic Metaverse. "When people think of the metaverse, the first thing that comes to mind is virtual reality, AR, VR. However, due to the numerous technical challenges still present in global virtual reality, with VR devices not yet mature, the concept of the metaverse has been unable to materialize." He explained the project's idea to the participants, stating, "But we believe that the value of the metaverse itself should not be limited to virtual reality devices alone, nor is there any rule that the metaverse must be built on AR and VR. The metaverse's three dimensions of 'civilization, digital identity, and economic system' should possess their own core value, and that is the Protogenetic Metaverse."
The four team members proposed a plan to build an integrated and practical Protogenetic Metaverse focusing on these three dimensions. "Civilization" corresponds to the product "Chain Island - Group Social System"; "digital identity" corresponds to the product "DID - Decentralized Personal Identity Data System"; and "economic system" corresponds to the product "Baichuan Chain - High-storage, high-concurrency, tokenless blockchain system."

Before founding the SCU DAO entrepreneurial team, leader Wang Zhengyunqin had been involved in multiple entrepreneurial endeavors. It was during these previous entrepreneurial experiences that he and Chen Junyu gradually developed the idea of creating a group social platform. "Internet platforms can generally be divided into two categories. One is personal social networking, which can be referred to as private domains, such as WeChat and QQ, where people communicate directly with their acquaintances and friends. The other category is public domains, which include platforms like Zhihu, Xiaohongshu, Weibo, and Tieba, where the information sharers and participants often have little direct offline connection and do not know each other." However, in real-life social interactions, he felt it was difficult to reach the same group of people online and engage in stable and meaningful communication within the same community. Therefore, he attempted to create a system that allows for customized vertical information exchange and communication among different groups, bridging the gap between existing private and public domain platforms.
During an elective course, Wang Zhengyunqin met Zhang Hanyang and Li Zhuoyuan, both top students in computer science, and shared his ideas with them. The three immediately reached a consensus and established the SCU DAO team. "DAO stands for a new organizational form called decentralized autonomous organization. Choosing it as the team name signifies our desire for absolute information transparency within the team, the ability to do what we want to do, what we consider valuable, and what brings value to society." High information transparency, autonomous decision-making and development, and altruism have always been the team culture of SCU DAO, localizing the core principles of DAO in practical team execution.

Subsequently, the team established a Publicity Department, which reached a size of 9 members; a Finance Department, with 5 members; and a Technology Department, with 9 members. The team utilized core technological approaches such as "information diversion," "sub-zone system," "identity groups," and "recommendation algorithms" to develop the "Chain Island - Group Social System" product. The product is currently in the internal testing phase of its C-round and is expected to be publicly available for testing in September 2023.

2. "Personal data ownership should be returned to individuals."
"Personal data should not be owned by companies, as this would lead to numerous data leaks and privacy infringements. Data ownership should be returned to individual users." During a regular team meeting, Wang Zhengyunqin, Zhang Hanyang, Li Zhuoyuan, and Li Wenqiu discussed the idea of creating a product that utilizes blockchain technology to return personal data to individual users, ensuring the security and privacy of their personal data while enabling more efficient and convenient data circulation.
The project "DID - Decentralized Personal Data Identity System" was officially initiated and executed. During the continuous theoretical research process, Zhang Hanyang realized that "a large amount of redundant personal data is stored in the DID system, and we should consolidate this data to create easily exchangeable and valuable personal data assets." Thus, the "2+1" functional system of the "DID system" was established, resolving the two major issues of "personal data leaks and privacy infringements" and "personal data circulation" within the traditional internet technology architecture. It also opened up an incremental market for "personal data assets," providing a substantial amount of high-quality and compliant data raw materials to downstream industries.
Due to the complexity of the "DID system," the SCU DAO team established a Legal Department. On April 26, 2023, the "Sichuan Huanyudao Chain Technology Co., Ltd." was established, and in May, it received angel funding from Gray Sea Investments.
During the same period, in May, the team formed a "sandbox alliance" with several companies, including human resources companies, internet metaverse companies, legal firms, and financial companies, to conduct a "sandbox test" of the DID system, scheduled to begin in mid-June.
3. "Maximizing the Benefits of Technological Advancement"
In order to realize the "DID system," the SCU DAO team independently developed a high-concurrency, large-scale blockchain infrastructure that can effectively support the business volume requirements of the DID system. "Why don't we allow such technology to maximize its value and let it play a role in other essential scenarios, the most direct one being transaction processing?" Liu Hongxin, Yang Jin, and Shen Jiaping discussed other potential applications of the technological advancements with Zhang Hanyang and Li Zhuoyuan after a meeting. After further discussions with Wang Ruolin and Liu Mengyan regarding the feasibility of incentives and regulations, the SCU DAO team officially established the development of a blockchain system that provides high-concurrency, large-scale storage, and is tokenless for economic transactions, leveraging their technological research and development foundation. This system will be temporarily embedded within the "Chain Island" and "DID system" for stability testing.
4. "The Combined Value of Independent Business Creates the Vision of the Protogenetic Metaverse"
As of May 2023, the SCU DAO team has grown to 32 members, divided into seven departments: Technology, Publicity, Design, Roadshow, Finance, Legal, and Information Resources. During a conversation with the COO of a metaverse company, Wang Zhengyunqin and Chen Junyu realized that the team's three major business directions unintentionally covered the three core concepts of the metaverse: "Civilization," "Digital Identity," and "Economic System," bypassing virtual reality directly. "Each business has its independent value, and when combined, it creates a synergistic effect greater than the sum of its parts. This should be the vision of the Protogenetic Metaverse," Wang Zhengyunqin believed. "The metaverse should not necessarily be based solely on virtual reality technology. Its fundamental value should be directly applicable and implementable in practice."
Currently, SCU DAO has received significant support and capital from the industry, and it is believed that under their team culture of high transparency, free decision-making, and altruism, they can transform technological innovation into a positive force that brings value to human society. We eagerly await the public testing of the merged Protogenetic Metaverse system, "Interchain Island."
